candlelight vigil 

Every year, New HOPE holds a candlelight vigil in honor of victims and survivors of abuse and in memory of those who have lost their lives. At the vigil, guest speakers speak on topics related to abuse and share their personal experiences. There is also a moment of silence and lighting of candles in honor and memory of those who have been affected and lost.

This event is regularly held in October on the McDowell County Courthouse Lawn. It is free to attend and open to the public. Donations are appreciated but not required!

Our 2015 event was covered by WLOS News 13, focusing on the rise in incidents of violence in our community. Another focus of their coverage was on the trial for the murder of Amy Parker, a victim of domestic violence. Check out the video below!
